About Us

Hi everyone welcome to 'our dream'. My name is Marie Parnell and I am married and have three Children. George 15, Maisy 11 and Bill who is 7. I am the proprietor of Wakefield's newest luxury boarding cattery .

We have five of our own pampered pussies, the youngest being, a British Short Hair Chocolate boy called 'Yogi'.. just like the bear?!.... Not forgetting our little 'Butch', a minature Jack Russell. Everyone loves Butch..

‘Chalet Cats' is built at  Blacker Lane in Calder Grove, Wakefield . The real ‘gem' to this dream of ours coming true is that the house where we live and where Chalet Cats is going to be built is where I was actually born. My parents moved here in 1966 and my sisters and I had a rural and family orientated up bringing.

In 2002, we bought the house to keep it in the family as it meant so much to us all. Our intention from day one was to open our own boarding cattery, but spent the best part of eighteen months plus on renovating and extending it to suit our needs. Not wanting to go ‘thread to needle' through it all, but our planning permission took all of nearly two years to get approved by Wakefield 's council. It was ultimately a decision made by the Planning and Highways committee who unanimously voted our application in on 6 th July 2006.

At this point I would like to thank everyone who has helped us with our application. These include our friends, local and nearby businesses, including Vets from the Wakefield and Dewsbury area. We've had a great deal of support from our own ‘ward councillors' and other councillors who have a passion for animals who just wanted to see the area of Calder Grove and Wakefield as a whole benefit from a new committed boarding cattery.
